Did you know that 80% of people are currently using texting for business, according to eWeek?

Let that soak in a bit.

Did you also know that text messages have a 98% open rate, while email has only a 20% open rate, according to Mobile Marketing Watch?

The texting tide is changing business and the property management industry is no exception. More and more, property managers are turning to texting as a viable means of communicating with tenants, vendors, and owners.

The ability to communicate via text message is most definitely a luxury, dare we say, amenity. To stay on top of shifting trends, we have just released a set of new texting features as part of the Rent Manager 12 Text Messaging Center, vastly expanding our users’ text message capabilities.

Here’s a breakdown of what’s new:

Two-Way Texting

Rent Manager previously featured Text Broadcasting, a one-way communication tool that lets property managers send messages to hundreds of contacts at once. Text Broadcasting is a great tool to use when alerting tenants of community-wide maintenance, announcements, or other general messages. And now we’ve expanded that resource to give tenants the ability to text back. Whether it’s a response to a Text Broadcast or a one-off message in a private conversation, tenants and property managers can communicate back and forth via text message to coordinate tasks or just to check in.

Convenient Action Buttons

Within the new Text Messaging Center, Rent Manager displays handy action buttons that enable you to jump to various areas in the program. Say a tenant texts in with a water leak. Without having to fumble through various windows or folders, the user can click right into work orders from the texting window and enter in a new service ticket right on the spot.

Manage all messages in one window

Every text message that comes in through Rent Manager is featured on a live stream in the Text Messaging Center’s main window. This gives you an at-a-glance picture of the various text streams occurring at any given time. Easily click between conversations and manage all of your texting in one simplified screen.

Text tenants, vendors, owners, whoever!

Anyone, and we mean anyone, who is set up as a contact in Rent Manager and has SMS messaging enabled can be texted. That means you can communicate with vendors, owners, property managers, tenants, and your great Aunt Sally if you so wish. The possibilities are endless.

With Rent Manager’s newest updates, property managers can take full advantage of the convenience of text messaging. By opening up yet another line of communication, your tenants will surely appreciate your efforts to stay engaged and keep them in-the-know.
